In a public forum that was held at Addis Ababa Sheraton Hotel yesterday, a participant told Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed that at the root of the current ethnic clashes in Ethiopia is the anti-Amhara manifesto that the Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) crafted when the former rebel group was still in the bushes as a rebel group. The participant explained that TPLF, the dominant party in the current ruling coalition, EPRDF, has been and continues to wage a propaganda war against the Amhara ethnic group and is trying to foment hostilities between Amhara and Oromo, the two major ethnic groups in Ethiopia. What is most interesting about the meeting is that it was being broadcast live by the state-controlled EBC TV. Watch the video below:
