During a question & answer session at the Ethiopian Parliament, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed explained the arbitrary detention of Addis Ababa youth in terms of the need to take preventative measures to avoid situations similar to what have occurred in Burayu and other towns recently. The Prime Minister, who met with the detainees at his office before they were released, was apologetic in his explanation and implored the youth to view their detention as a sacrifice they have paid for the reform that is taking place in Ethiopia.
