Ethiopia to remove visa requirement for all Africans

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has announced his government’s plan to remove visa requirements for all Africans who would like to travel to Ethiopia. The Prime Minister has made the announcement at a state dinner hosted for the visiting Rwandan President Paul Kagame last night.

Lifting visa requirements will bring more tourists, and facilitate increased trade between Africans, which will help the Ethiopian economy grow.

In 2016, Rwanda has adopted a similar policy. And this year South Africa has lifted visa requirements for Rwandans.

Rwandan policy goes even further. Anyone from anywhere in the world who travels to Rwanda gets visa-on-arrival.

All African countries should take Rwanda’s and Ethiopia’s lead and remove travel restrictions for all people of African origin. It is an exciting news.
