Sudan and Kenya release 3,000 Ethiopian prisoners


Following the visits by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to Sudan and Kenya earlier this month, the two countries have released a total 3,000 Ethiopian prisoners, many of whom were arrested for being illegal immigrants.

Fana Television reported that Kenya has released 1,600, while Sudan released 1,600 Ethiopians today.

During PM Abiy’s visit to Kenya, the two countries have also agreed to exchange of prisoners, Meles Alem, spokesperson of the Ethiopian Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
