Ethiopia’s new prime minister Abiy Ahmed held a town-hall meeting with residents of Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, today. The prime minister is currently conducting a nationwide tour to hear the concerns of the Ethiopian people who have been brutalized and tormented by a minority ethnic-apartheid junta for the past 27 years. PM Abiy is promising to make serious and radical changes that will put Ethiopia on the path of peace, prosperity, and democratic governance. So far he is keeping some of his promises, such as releasing political prisoners, but it remains to be seen how far he will go since the country’s military and security forces are still under the command of Tigrean People Liberation Front (TPLF).
