Following the reform on freedom of expression in Ethiopia, individuals have taken social media as a way of disseminating misinformation and hate speech to incite violence among ethnic groups. Many self-proclaimed political activists have also been accused of using similar strategies to meet their intended audience. The Ethiopian government drafted an anti-hate speech proclamation in order to maintain the delicate social structure. Seyoum Teshome is one of Ethiopia’s renowned activist and blogger. The former lecturer has never been shy to voice his stance on different issues of the country on platforms such as Ethiopian Think Tank Group and Andafta.
