Oromia regional state recently appointed Brigadier General Kemal Gelchu as the chief of Oromia Security Administration Bureau. Previous to his appointment, he defected Ethiopian National Defense Force and joined Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) base in Asmara with 150 troops in 2006. He served as one of the military’s top official until he left due to internal conflict in 2014. He joined and served as the head of United Front for Independent Oromia (UFIO). Following the reform in Ethiopia, he returned on July 5, 2018, and had been working as security chief. He was forced to leave his post after receiving a letter from Oromia regional state president Lemma Megersa.
