Oromia Democratic Party (ODP) has aligned with parties claiming ownership over Addis Ababa. The party is allegedly following a strategy to alter the city’s demography by dominating the population in and around the city. Demolishing houses in the name of enforcing the law is one of the many ways the party is pushing its agenda. Despite plenty of allegations, ODP previously denied any involvement in issuing identification cards for non-residents illegally in many sub-city of Addis Ababa. The party went as far as claiming name defamation for such allegations. In a recent interview, Taye Dendea, ODP’s PR and Communication, publicly admitted that the party had issued 500 IDs for non-residents against the city’s rule.
