Ethiopia has a growing number of internet users due to the increased accessibility of smartphones. Recent statistics show that more than 15.3% of the population uses the internet. Among these, 4.5 million people use Facebook, the biggest social media. PM Abiy Ahmed made a public statement on how self-proclaimed activists and influential people are abusing social media. The statement is crucial considering as to how many users using fake accounts are inciting violence and spreading hate speech among users.
