Police in Ethiopia will start using helicopters for the first time as part of plans to improve and restructure the force. The helicopters will be used to track criminals.
According to the Zeynu Jemal, the Commissioner of the Ethiopian Federal Police, the helicopters will help police officers to engage criminal elements such as human traffickers, drug and weapon smugglers.
The police will also use the helicopters to escort VIPs, conduct security operations, and manage large demonstrations.
