The Ethiopian army and federal police have moved into the Amhara regional state to restore peace amid rising violence.
The regional administration of the Amhara regional state formally asked the Ministry of Defense and the federal police to intervene. Parts of the Amhara region, particularly central and western Gondar, have been rocked with violence in recent months.
The army and police have taken over security in the central and western parts of the region.
