Cars in Ethiopia to be fitted with speed limiters

The Federal Transport Authority of Ethiopia announced on Friday that the government is considering enacting a law that will require all cars to have a speed limiter. The move is part of efforts by the government to curb road accidents in the country.

Transport officials have invited suppliers of speed limiter devices to present proposals. The plan is to have a speed limiter installed on every car in Ethiopia.

Transport authorities first announced the plan to fit speed limiters on cars years ago. However, it is the first time that officials have invited companies to place bids to supply the devices.
