Trade between Ethiopia and Kenya has increased since a road connecting both countries was launched two years ago. According to the African Development Bank (AfDB), the road connecting both countries has increased trade by about 400 percent.
On Wednesday, Akinwumi Adesina, the president of AfDB, said the bank is sponsoring the development of energy and transport infrastructure in Ethiopia as part of efforts to boost the country’s economy.
“That road alone has allowed trade between Ethiopia and Kenya to rise by 400 percent and that has also provided Ethiopia with access to a port,” Adesina told reporters.
He also praised Ethiopia’s investment in the construction of hydroelectric power plants. “I have never seen any other African country invest more in infrastructure that this country,” he said. […] CONTINUE READING
