In the recent African Union summit, the leaders unveiled the statue of Emperor Haile Selassie as a recognition of the emperor’s efforts for African unity. Emperor Haile Selassie was the last monarch of Ethiopia, and for years his family remained in the shadows after the Derg regime took over Ethiopia. The statue tribute has an immense meaning for the remaining families of the emperor.
