Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has won a continental gender award. The African Union African Gender Awards 2018 was given to the Ethiopian premier in recognition of his efforts to empower women.
Prime Minister Ahmed received the award on Monday during the 32nd AU Heads of State Summit in Addis Ababa. The AU award was created in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
