A grenade explosion killed a groom and his best man on Tuesday in a village in the South Wollo Zone, Amhara region.
The blast occurred after the grenade, which belonged to the groom, went off after the man’s 10-day traditional honeymoon celebration. The best man was reportedly entertaining the newlyweds when the incident happened. However, the bride was not present.
According to Nigatu Tameme, the deputy commander of the police in Borena district, the groom was illegally in possession of the grenade.
The groom has been identified as 25-year-old Mohammed Hassan Mohammed and his best man was 24-year-old Bogale Sebsibe Abera.
