A top Ethiopian diplomat has died after being hospitalized in the United States. Mr. Dawit Yohannes, the former speaker of the House of Representatives, died at the age of 63.
Dawit passed away in a New York hospital where he was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Dawit, who spent over ten years in Ethiopian politics, became the first speaker of the House of Representatives under the government of the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF).
