Ethiopian-Saudi billionaire Mohammed Al Amoudi has been released from prison on Saturday after he was arrested over a year ago on corruption charges, according to various news media.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s office announced Al Amoudi’s release on its Tweeter page on Sunday. His family has also confirmed the news.

Al Amoudi, whose fortune was valued at 8.3 billion dollars (7.3 billion euros) by Forbes in 2017, was arrested in November 2017 as part of an unprecedented purge that saw arrests of princes, ministers, and businessmen on charges of massive corruption.
