Ethiopia’s Biruktayit Degefa has won the Chevron Houston Marathon with a time of 2:23:28. On Sunday, Biruktayit became the first woman in the history of the competition to win it three times in a row. Her win was also the 13th by an Ethiopian woman in the history of the competition.
Apart from Biruktayit, other Ethiopia female athletes also came second and third. Meseret Belete, a 19-year-old who was making her marathon debut, came second with a time of 2:26:51 while Belaynesh Fikadu came third in the race with a time of 2:26:51.
