A meeting was held at Ras Amba Hotel today to review the progress of the Renaissance Dam. Representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations attended the meeting. According to the reports, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) faced delays in construction due to Electro-mechanical failures. These failures happened as a result of inadequate staff of Metal and Engineering Corporation (METEC). According to Ato Hailu Aberham, Public Relations Head at Office of Ethiopian National Council for the Coordination of Public Participation on the construction of GERD, such failures along with information obscurity resulted in the decreased participation of the public for the construction of the dam.
