Malaria-causing mosquito found in Ethiopia for the first time


The Anopheles stephensi mosquito, which causes malaria, has been found in Ethiopia for the first time. The discovery has triggered fears of malaria spreading in the East African country.

According to a study by a researcher from Baylor University, Anopheles stephensi is usually found in places like China, the Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent. The study estimates that about 68 percent of Ethiopia’s population is at risk of suffering from malaria.
