Police in the eastern Ethiopian town of Meiso, in a place called Asebot, has seized 80 million birr in illicit money during a search. The vehicle in which the money, which weighs 16 quintals, was being transferred was caught by police when it hit a donkey and was forced to stop the car. The people around the area gathered to lift the unlucky donkey. After that, the people got suspicious and asked him what he was carrying. And the driver answered that they were taking money to Oromia Corporative Bank in Addis Ababa. Mr. Temam Amde Awol, president of the Meiso woreda told to Mereja Tv that those people had also a 25 Million birr check with them in addition to the 80 million birr they carry. There were two policemen, one cashier and one driver in the car. The president said that they have known that the Polices were from Dire Dawa and further investigation is being done on who these people are.
