The University of Debremarkos announced the injury of four students in a conflict between students belonging to the Amhara and Oromia ethnic groups. The conflict started when the Amhara students expressed that the grief for the loss of lives of the Oromo in other regions was not only felt by the Oromo students but also by them. Dr. Esubalew Melku, President of the university’s secretariat spoke to Mereja tv that the conflict started when the Oromo students started expressing their grief for the loss of lives of the Oromo in other regions without the knowledge of the University. The president also added that the issue has been resolved and that they are reaching a mutual agreement with the Oromo students. He also expressed that the students who were injured have received medical care and they are in good condition now.
