Mr. Muluken Assefa, General Manager of the Addis Ababa Light Rail Transit Service, announced to Mereja TV that, the LRT project had procured the signaling and communications cables from METEC and from the Turkish cable maker, BMET. Cables procured from MetEC stretching from Kaliti area to Gumruk-Laghar and from Ayat to Megenagna have sustained serious disruptions, so far. New bid that doesn’t include METEC is going to take place in order to replace at least 15 kilometers of the electric cables with new ones. And replacing these electric cables costs in millions.
