The airline said the hotel is meant to bring more tourists to Ethiopia and to serve its partners and transit passengers, many of whom change planes in Addis Ababa.

The hotel has three restaurants and an executive lounge, three day-light meeting rooms and two VIP private meeting rooms for corporate use, and a grand ballroom that seats 2,000 people. A health club includes an outdoor swimming pool, mini-golf, a spa and massage room, and a gym.

Abel Alemu, Ethiopian Airlines’ regional manager for Southern Africa, said the airline wanted to build long-term relationships with guests and that its staff would aim to give them the best hospitality services.

The Skylight adds to the airline group’s businesses beyond flying, which include its catering unit and its aviation academy in Addis Ababa.
