Al Jazeera reported Ethiopian migrants rescued after the dangerous Horn-to-Yemen crossing


On 18 June 2019 Al Jazeera reported that Ethiopian migrants had been rescued from Yemen along a route where about 12,000 people still took the dangerous sea journey from the Horn of Africa every month despite Yemen’s war and poverty.

The story placed the rescue inside the wider Red Sea migration corridor that continued to pull Ethiopian and other Horn travellers toward Gulf labour markets even after conflict closed safer paths.
