On 18 June 2019 The New Indian Express published Thomas Matthew’s Mindspace essay “Midnight terror on streets of Ethiopia,” which opened in the revolutionary year 1974.
The piece used personal recollection of night-time fear in Ethiopian streets to revisit how political upheaval reached ordinary lives during the fall of Emperor Haile Selassie’s order.
Kept as history archive, the Express essay dates a 2019 memoir reading of Ethiopia’s 1974 street terror.
