On 17 June 2019 Voice of America reported that Ethiopia’s finance minister said the government was preparing to privatise some state-owned enterprises as part of wider market opening.
The report noted that plans to sell stakes in major firms, including parts of the telecom sector, remained politically sensitive even as officials pushed foreign capital into selected public assets.
