On 15 June 2019 Borkena reported that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed told a Dessie public meeting he would resign within twenty-four hours if ethnic Oromo officials dominated government posts, while denying that such domination existed.
The remark, captured on video according to Borkena, came during the same Amhara visit where residents pressed him on the constitution and national unity.
Kept as politics archive, the Borkena report dates Abiy Ahmed’s Dessie pledge on ethnic balance in public office.
