On 16 June 2019 New Business Ethiopia reported that Ethiopia inaugurated a 220-kilometer toll road linking the eastern city of Dire Dawa toward the Djibouti trade corridor, aiming to ease import-export logistics.

Officials presented the toll highway as infrastructure for freight that still depends on the Djibouti port for most of Ethiopia’s overseas trade.
