Borkena said GERD outlet pipes were being replaced as a quality check before the 2020 deadline

On 13 June 2019 Borkena reported that outlet pipes at Ethiopia’s Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam were being removed and replaced as a quality-assurance step while the project still aimed to meet a 2020 completion deadline.

The short construction update treated the pipe work as a technical milestone on the Blue Nile dam rather than as a new political claim about filling or power sales.

Kept as dam-engineering archive, the Borkena note dates a mid-2019 quality check on GERD’s outlet works.
