On 13 June 2019 the Ethiopia Humanitarian Country Team, posted through OCHA on ReliefWeb, issued key messages warning that the Regional Food Security and Nutrition Working Group expected upcoming Horn of Africa drought conditions similar in scale to 2017, with southern Ethiopia among the worst-hit areas.
The note said Ethiopia’s National Meteorological Agency foresaw below-average summer rains, that most farmers and herders depend on rain, and that drought was compounding an already huge nationwide response to internal displacement that still needed urgent funding and partner support.
Kept as humanitarian planning archive, the EHCT message dates the June 2019 drought-plus-displacement alert for Ethiopia.
