On 13 June 2019 OCHA’s Ethiopia IDP Situation Report for May 2019, carried on ReliefWeb, said government return operations were continuing at full scale and many displacement sites were being dismantled as people went back where security and rehabilitation support existed.
The report said IDPs who still felt unsafe preferred relocation or local integration, that assistance in return areas was minimal or absent, that host communities were exhausted after sharing scarce resources, and that local authorities were asking international partners to fill rehabilitation gaps.
Kept as humanitarian archive, the May 2019 situation report dates the strain of Ethiopia’s large-scale IDP return drive.
