On 12 June 2019 Borkena featured new Ethiopian music by Tsegaye Eshetu and Sileshi Demissie titled “Min Honenal,” which translates as “What happened to us,” and said the song reflected on ethnic violence, mass displacement, and unrest that had reached university grounds across the country.
Borkena linked the track, uploaded that week on YouTube through Hope Entertainment, to a wider artistic lament about political strain after years of ethnic federal politics, and invited listeners to judge the song for themselves.
Kept as music and culture archive, the Borkena post dates a June 2019 popular song that put Ethiopia’s security crisis into Amharic lyric form.
