Africa’s largest carrier had resumed Eritrea service after the 2018 peace opening, so continuing the route despite blocked cash showed both commercial commitment and the unfinished financial plumbing of Ethio–Eritrean normalization.

Kept as aviation and Eritrea archive, the Africanews report dates Ethiopian Airlines’ mid-2019 decision to stay on the Asmara route despite frozen funds.
