In June 2019 Egypt Today reported that the International Organization for Migration was appealing for about $50 million to assist needy people in Ethiopia, matching the funding ask in IOM’s mid-year emergency and recovery plans.
The money was meant for lifesaving aid to people displaced by drought and conflict while the wider Humanitarian Response Plan remained underfunded, which kept Ethiopia on the global appeal list through the second half of 2019.
Kept as humanitarian archive, the Egypt Today brief dates IOM’s $50 million Ethiopia funding appeal in June 2019.
