In June 2019 Borkena relayed an Ethiopian Airlines statement that CEO Tewolde Gebremariam had been re-appointed to the International Air Transport Association Board of Governors.
A seat on the IATA board is one of the industry’s more visible leadership posts, so the re-appointment kept Ethiopia’s flag carrier inside global airline governance after the ET302 crisis year.
Kept as aviation archive, the statement dates Tewolde’s continued role in IATA’s governing body in mid-2019.
