In June 2019 Africanews reported a Norwegian Refugee Council ranking in which Africa accounted for seven of the ten displacement crises classed as most neglected, with Ethiopia among the countries named in the wider set of underfunded emergencies.
Neglected-crisis lists matter because they measure not only suffering but also how little donor attention a displacement emergency receives compared with higher-profile wars.
Kept as humanitarian archive, the NRC-linked coverage dates mid-2019 evidence that African displacement, including Ethiopian cases, was falling down the global priority list.
