In early June 2019 Tadias Magazine reported that Ethiopia’s President Sahle-Work Zewde addressed the Women Deliver conference in Vancouver, where thousands of civil-society and government leaders gathered around gender equality and women’s health.
Sahle-Work had become Africa’s only serving female head of state when she took office in 2018, so her appearance put Ethiopia’s early reform-era symbolism onto a major global women’s-rights stage.
Kept as gender and politics archive, the Tadias note dates how Ethiopia’s first female president used an international platform in mid-2019.
