In June 2019 The Jerusalem Post reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel must do more to integrate citizens who immigrated from Ethiopia and to combat racism and discrimination against them.
He called Ethiopian Jewish aliyah a central chapter in Israel’s story, while memorial ceremonies also honored those who died on the journey from Ethiopia.
