In May 2019 Africanews reported that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed pledged Ethiopia would not interfere in Sudan’s political transition after the fall of Omar al-Bashir.
The promise came while Sudanese protesters and a military council struggled over who would govern, and while regional leaders offered mediation and support.
Non-interference talk is never the whole story of Horn diplomacy, but the public pledge still matters as a dated Abiy Ahmed line on Sudan.
Kept as Horn geopolitics archive, the Africanews brief records Ethiopia’s early public posture toward post-Bashir Khartoum.
