In May 2019 APA reporting via Journal du Cameroun said Isuzu Motors Ltd. had finalized preparations to open a vehicle assembly plant in Ethiopia.
Local assembly promises jobs and less reliance on fully built imports, but it also depends on stable FX for kits, parts, and profit repatriation—problems that already dogged other auto and appliance assemblers.
Japanese and other Asian assemblers circling Ethiopia in 2019 fit the same FDI pitch that sold industrial parks and Chinese-built zones.
Kept as manufacturing and FDI archive, the Isuzu plant notice is a dated marker of Ethiopia’s assembly ambitions.
