In May 2019 Xinhua reported that the Ethiopian Investment Commission launched a Chinese-language web portal meant to ease service delivery and pull in more Chinese capital.

EIC Commissioner Abebe Abebayehu said China was already Ethiopia’s biggest economic partner and largest source of investment and financial support, and that Addis Ababa wanted even more Chinese projects.

Language portals look small beside rail and industrial parks, but they show how Abiy Ahmed’s government marketed FDI through Beijing-facing tools rather than only English investment guides.

Kept as China–Ethiopia investment archive, the Chinese-friendly site launch is a dated soft-power and FDI marker from May 2019.
