In May 2019 2merkato reported that Texas-based menswear firm Trybus Group dispatched 4,000 men’s suits worth about $60,000 from Kombolcha, Ethiopia, as its first export shipment.
The company said it had created 533 jobs in the first phase and aimed for about 1,000 jobs when the plant ran fully, according to figures tied to the Ethiopian Investment Commission.
Garment exports from industrial parks and secondary cities were a central FX promise of the late 2010s, even when logistics and input imports stayed difficult.
Kept as manufacturing and export archive, the Trybus Kombolcha shipment dates one concrete U.S. buyer link in Ethiopia’s apparel push.
