In May 2019 CNN published a commentary by Nadia Milleron, whose 24-year-old daughter Samya Rose Stumo was killed when Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashed on 10 March 2019 after leaving Addis Ababa.
Milleron wrote that Samya was flying to Kenya for her first assignment with a health systems group and was sitting in seat 16J on a Boeing 737 Max 8, the same model that had crashed in Indonesia months earlier. She said the Ethiopian plane dived more than once before hitting the ground at high speed, and that later investigations pointed to a bad sensor feeding the flight-control system.
The essay asked the United States Federal Aviation Administration to keep the Max grounded until every serious investigation was finished, and it argued that Boeing had known about serious problems before the two crashes yet still pressed to return the jets to service.
Kept as ET302 archive, the piece is a parent voice from the Red Sea aviation corridor that carried so many passengers through Addis Ababa. It records grief and a concrete demand about airworthiness, not a slogan about who to blame.
