In April 2019, France 24 reported from a Tigray village roughly 800 kilometers from Addis where, since the late 1990s, food production had reportedly multiplied about tenfold and farmer incomes about twentyfold through permaculture-style soil and water work.
Small-scale success does not cancel regional food insecurity. It does show that terracing, composting, and water harvesting can rewrite local odds when communities stay on the land.
Later war in Tigray made such village stories ache harder. Development gains are fragile when the Ethiopian government and armed actors turn highland farms into front lines.
As agriculture reference, the France 24 focus remains useful: name the method, name the place, and refuse to pretend donor language alone feeds people.
