In recent years identity questions and border conflict have been escalating in Ethiopia. Ethnic violence has led millions to leave their houses and displaced. Ethiopia has seen the highest number of people forced to flee their homes within their country in the first half of 2018, according to the IDMC report on global displacement that was released a few months ago. Inter-communal violence displaced close to one million civilians in west Guji zone of the Oromia regional state and Gedeo zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s Regional State (SNNPR). Even though this has been on and off the news for nearly a year recent reports show that the displaced have not been getting any support from the government and are in dire condition. Recent pictures that were posted online showed the horrible situation of the people. ESAT journalist Ermias Legesse discusses the situation and condemns the federal and Oromia government for not supporting the people who are in need.
