Brigadier General Asaminew Tsige served as chief of the Amhara Region security forces after being reinstated in 2019. He was accused of orchestrating the coup d’etat in Amhara region on June 22, 2019, that resulted in the deaths of Amhara region President Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen, Ethiopian Military Chief of Staff General Seare Mekonnen, Major General Gezae Abera, Amhara region attorney general Migebaru Kebede. It was reported that he was killed when the authorities attempted to arrest him after a 36 hours hunt.
