Andualem Arage speaks at a literature event, the National Theater in Addis Ababa

Andualem Arage began his career in politics in 2000 as a founding member of the Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP). He first ran for parliament in 2005 before his first arrest. He had been in prison for more than two years at Kaliti Prison. After his release, he remained the Vice-Chair and the Head of Public Relations of his party until his re-arrest and imprisonment by the Ethiopian government on September 14, 2011, on terrorism charges. He was released last year with other politicians and journalists. He is still a prominent politician and recently elected as the Deputy Leader of Ethiopia Citizens for Social Justice (ECSJ) in 2019. He gave a speech at a literature event organized at the National Theatre in Addis Ababa.
