Following the downfall of the Derg regime, Ethiopia adopted the current national anthem in 1992. The General Provision to the Ethiopian Constitution in Article 4 says that the anthem “shall reflect the ideals of the Constitution, the Commitment of the Peoples of Ethiopia to live together in a democratic order and of their common destiny.” A national anthem is one of the most sacred things as a citizen since it is a song of pride and patriotism. However, statistics show only a few percentages of people know the lyrics and rhyme of national anthem. Mereja TV set out to test how many know the national anthem of Ethiopia.
